Make an ACC claim
Many physical birth injuries are now covered by ACC. Here’s the link to more information.
We encourage you to make a claim for a birth injury even if the injury doesn’t seem big or isn’t giving you pain/discomfort at this stage. Challenges from many birth-related injuries don’t show up for weeks, or even years, but if you have a claim accepted by ACC, you are covered for life. Also, if your claim is accepted, you are eligible for child care help, home help, rongoā Māori, counselling/psychology as well as medical treatment. Please ask ACC specifically about how you can access these.
